What is recorded here

Indicated was a fairy fort in County Mayo, Ireland, occupying a low pasture rise where people likely wondered whether the circles housed humans, horses, or something older. Farmers levelled the rath in the 1950s, yet a twenty-nine-metre shadow still stands out in the grass, marked by a faint scarp and ghost traces of its outer bank. A farm road now cuts across part of that forgotten edge, pressing ordinary traffic through a place that once resisted explanation.
In pasture, located on a low rise, with good but not extensive views. This rath was levelled in the 1950's. The outline of the rath can still be traced as a slightly raised, roughly circular area (diam. c. 29m) defined by a slight scarp, outside which there are ephemeral traces of a fosse and outer bank. The fosse and outer bank are overlain at SSE–SSW by a farm road. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 July 2021
