What is recorded here

Indicated is a small circular cashel on a west-facing Clare slope, its double-faced wall still standing half a metre high among karst limestone and rough pasture. The gap in the north-west wall and the rectangular enclosure outside it suggest the fort never closed completely; it kept a door open for whatever entered the field system. That much of the wall remains visible is unusual. More often these small stone rings dissolve into pasture, forgotten before they are named.

On a W-facing slope in rough pasture and karst limestone within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). Indicated on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This small circular cashel (21.7m N-S; 20.9m E-W) is defined by a double-faced wall (Wth 1m at W; H c. 0.5-0.7m) and associated stone tumble (total Wth 3-4.3m). Grass-covered field walls abut the cashel at the E and SW. There is a gap (Wth 4.5m) in the wall at WNW-NW, which probably post-dates the original occupation of the cashel. Outside this gap is a later small rectangular enclosure (c. 8m NW-SE; c. 6m NE-SW). There is an enclosure (CL009-246----) c. 94m to the SE.
