What is recorded here

Indicated is a tangled ribbon of field walls stretching across Ballyconnoe North, linking Killeany church, cashels and a settlement cluster into one lived landscape. The stones do not obey modern property lines; they follow older decisions about pasture, prayer and neighbourhood. To walk the system is to hear several ages speaking at once, each angle and gap preserving a choice someone made long before satellites could see it.

A network of irregular field walls (c. 1.4km NE-SW; c. 600m NW-SE) visible on OS Aerial Premium (2012-2018) extending across the S half of the townland of Ballyconnoe North. Killeany church and graveyard (CL005-108003- and CL005-1080004-) lie at the NW extent and a significant settlement cluster (Cl009-004----) is c. 340m SE of that. Cashels (CL005-278---- and CL005-279----) and a possible fulacht fia (CL005-277----) also lie within this field system. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 23 August 2021
