What is recorded here

Indicated is a rectangular enclosure in County Kerry, Ireland, measured at sixty by thirty metres on a north-facing slope beside a tributary of the Tralia River. Local memory calls it Ballybrack fort, though no one has entered the pasture to test whether that name fits the stones. The boundary may have held people, excluded them, or marked a boundary between competing claims.

In pasture, on a N-facing slope, on the W side of a tributary of the Tralia River. Access to this enclosure was not gained. It is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a rectangular enclosure (c. 60m NE-SW; c. 30m NW-SE). On the 1894 OS 6-inch map the NE end of the rectangular enclosure is wider with slightly curving sides. In the 1840s it was described as 'Ballybrack fort' in the 'Southern part' of this townland (OSNB, Kilnanare, 11).
