On a gentle S-facing slope in pastureland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a small area of scrub and bushes. Known locally as 'St Patrick's Footprint', it consists of the rough outline of a foot (L 0.32m, Wth 0.13m max.) on the upper face of a flat natural limestone boulder: probably a product of natural erosion. Linked to St Patrick, the site is traditionally believed to mark the footprint of the patron saint of Ireland. Local folklore suggests he walked the area during his missionary journeys, leaving this impression in the earth as a sign of his presence.
