What is recorded here

Indicated is a vanished fairy fort on a low Galway hill, reduced to memory and several nearby stone cairns. It may have been a small human dwelling, a boundary marker or a child’s invented castle, but the loss of its shape makes the story clearer. The land keeps what measurement cannot capture.
On S slope of a low hill. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 30m). No visible surface trace survives. There are several cairns (GA055-001001-, GA055-003, GA055-006-) in the same td. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
