What is recorded here

Inch More castle stands as a ruined tower house in County Clare, its stones stripped of roof and purpose. It may have watched the water, stored grain or hidden people when the region needed defences. Whatever it did, the lake and air have taken back most of the answer.

Inch Castle (Inch More) was built in the late 15th or early 16th century by the MacNamara lords of Clare. It is remembered as a significant example of a Gaelic Irish tower house and reflects the defensive and social structures of the time in the region.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
