The *Ilsenstein* was a German steamship torpedoed and sunk by the British submarine HMS *Truant* in Skerry Sound, Scapa Flow, Orkney, on 29 August 1940 during World War II. The ship was carrying a cargo of coal and had no confirmed survivors among its crew of 38, marking it as one of the earliest and most significant wartime losses in Scottish waters.
