Hut site in Rossard

In rough hill pasture, on a SW-facing slope, at the foot of W-facing cliffs, immediately to the SE of Cummeenadillure Lough. The poorly preserved remains of an oval hut site (3m NE-SW; 1.8m NW-SE) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.7m; H 0.4m) SE-N and by a scarp N-SE. The hut site is cut (D 0.8m) into the upslope at NE. Material from the collapsed wall along the SE-SW arc is scattered downslope to the SW. The interior is level. There is an entrance (Wth 0.45m) at W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
