Hut site in Na Gleannta Thuaidh

On a natural terrace on an otherwise steep rocky mountain slope. A circular corbelled drystone structure with a blocked entrance at W leading into a courtyard, and another blocked entrance at S leading into a rectangular corbelled structure which is roofed by 4 large slabs. Circular structure is 3m in diameter internally and .85m high. The pronounced corbelling suggests that the roof may never have been very high and the structure may not have been intended for human occupation. The rectangular structure is 2.8m long, 1.3m wide and 1.5m high. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter.
