Hut site

What is recorded here

At the SSE end of a Man-made underground passage (SL038-110004-) and roughly in the centre of a field system (SL038-110005-). The remains of a rectangular structure (4m N-S; 8m E-W), defined by sod-covered wall footings (Wth c. 0.5-0.7m; H 0.3m), overlie the SSE end of the Man-made underground passage. A blackthorn bush obscures the E end of the structure. Another hut site (SL038-110008-) is c. 25m to SW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
