Hut site in Gowlin

Hut site

What is recorded here

Gowlin holds a tiny hut site beside a ringfort entrance, its low bank forming a narrow circular chamber only four and a half metres across. It is small enough to fit inside a bedroom, yet it belongs to a place large enough to have resisted forgetting. The hut may have served a keeper, a worker or a person who needed shelter close to the main gate. Its size turns the whole region into a house rather than a monument.
