Hut site in Garries

In rough hill pasture, on a SE-facing slope at the base of a rocky ridge, overlooking the valley of the Flesk River to the SE. The remains of an oval hut (4.5m E-W; 3.2m N-S) defined by the lower courses of a roughly constructed drystone wall (T 0.55m; H 1.1m). There is an entrance (Wth 0.6m) at W. The N portion of the interior is cut (D 0.5m) into the upslope. A large boulder forms the N side of the entrance and a line of stones extends (L 1.5m) to the W from the S side of the entrance. The S wall has collapsed outwards. Rubble from the collapsed upper courses is scattered along the perimeter. The level interior is obscured by ferns.
