Hut site in Deelish (carbery W. (e.d.) By., Dromdaleague Par.)

Hut site

What is recorded here

Deelish holds a rectangular hut site beside the eastern bank of a rath. Its stone foundations measure five metres north-south and six metres east-west, marking a small dwelling tucked against a larger defensive or ceremonial structure. The proximity suggests the hut served the rath, perhaps housing a keeper, worker or resident who watched the land.
In rath (CO119-014----). Stone foundations of rectangular hut site (5m N-S; 6m E-W) adjoining ESE bank of rath. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
