Hut site in Coom (bear By.)

Hut site

What is recorded here

Located in a rough hill pasture terrace with occasional outcropping rock, on a SE-facing slope. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 1.8m) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.5m). The lower courses protrude above the surface of the bog. Rushes and rubble obscure the interior and rubble is also scattered downslope to the SE. Another hut site (CO114-079004-) abuts this hut site externally at the SW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
