Hut site in Conray (drumahaire By.)

Hut site

What is recorded here

Situated on S facing slope of rising land in upland region. Square hut site (int. dims 2.8m N-S; 1.6m E-W) defined by grass-covered wall-footings built into the E face of field wall (T 0.8m) running N-S forming a large D-shaped enclosure (LE011-117----) into which the house is incorporated. The hut site and field wall form what appears to be the remains of a booley hut with a livestock enclosure. The hut site (LE011-137----) is 240m to WNW. This hut site and enclosure appears to date from the 18th-19th century although the dating of these features is impossible without archaeological excavation.
