Hut site in Canalough

On the N side of an E-W rough pasture ridge with occasional outcropping rock, beside the seashore on the S side of Blackball Harbour. The remains of a rectangular hut site (5m N-S; 2m E-W) defined by an intermittent earthen bank (Wth 1m; H 0.2m) from which stones occasionally protrude. The interior, which slopes gently to the N, is raised (H 0.1m) above the outer ground level and contains several indentations. There is a hut site (CO127-050005-) c. 28m to the W and another hut site (CO127-050007-) is c. 55m to the E. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
