Hut site in Canalough

On a level terrace, on the N side of an E-W rough pasture ridge with occasional outcropping rock, near the seashore on the S side of Blackball Harbour. The remains of a rectangular hut site (5.2m N-S; 2.7m E-W) defined by a bank (Wth 0.9m; H 0.35m) of earth and stone, which is largely obscured by long grass. The bank has several gaps, especially at the E. Some stones, which are partially obscured, lie on the S half of the interior. There is a hut site (CO127-050013-) 10m to the W and another hut site (CO127-050015-) is 15m to the E. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
