Hut site in Canalough

On the N side of an E-W rough pasture ridge with occasional outcropping rock, beside the seashore on the S side of Blackball Harbour. The poorly preserved remains of a rectangular hut site (5m N-S; 2m E-W) defined by intermittent stretches of a bank (Wth 0.9m; H 0.25m) of earth and stones. The uneven-surfaced interior of the hut site contains several partially grass-covered stones. An outcropping rock shelters the hut site at the S. There is a hut site (CO127-050004-) c. 20m to the WSW and another hut site (CO127-050006-) is c. 28m to the E. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
