Hut site in Canagullen

In boggy hill pasture, on a S-facing slope, overlooking the valley of the Glanmore River and within a network of relict field boundaries (KE111-025004-). The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 2.5m) defined by a drystone wall (T c. 0.6m; H 0.1-0.55m). The lower course stones of the wall protrude above the bog surface. The S portion of the interior is built up (H 0.8m) externally from the downslope and the N portion is cut (D 0.55m) into the upslope, creating a level interior. There is a possible entrance (Wth 0.7m) at E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
