Hut site in Baile Na Habha (tc Cill Chuáin)

On lower W slopes of Brandon mountain range. A pair of roughly circular conjoined huts of corbelled drystone construction. SE hut KE034-002---- has an independent entrance at S now partly blocked by collapse. Upright slabs directly inside entrance may have fallen accidentally into that position or may have been placed there to block the entrance. There are wall niches at SW and E. D: 5.8 to 6.2m. H: 1.3m. The lintels of the communicating passage between the 2 structures are almost level with the ground surface. The passage is now .6m high x .85m wide, but it may have been modified for use as a sheep-or lamb-shelter. The NW hut has a lintelled wall niche at SW, and a possible entrance at NNE, defined by a single low upright slab. The outer part of the wall of the hut is overlain by a modern field wall. D: 4.5m. H: .9m. The Man-made underground passage which extended W from this site to a rectangular foundation in the next field is no longer visible (local information).
