What is recorded here

Two conjoined huts crouch against the south side of a narrow lane inside a circular ringfort on the lower slopes of Reenconnell. The east hut measures 3.9m across, its wall reduced to a low stony bank with a wide gap at the southeast, while the lane cuts through the northern sector like a knife through old flesh. The site escaped the official maps entirely, hiding in plain sight on the hillside where nobody thought to look for walls.

Hut site described by Cuppage (1986, 128, no. 361) as follows; 'Situated on the lower SW slopes of Reenconnell, this site was not noted on the OS maps. It consists of a circular univallate ringfort [KE042-017----], within which are the remains of 2 conjoined huts [KE042-017001-]. An E-W laneway, c. 2m wide, cuts across the N sector of the fort but its N wall preserves the line of the original enclosure. The 2 roughly circular huts are located against the S side of the lane. The E hut is 3.9m in diameter internally. Its wall is also reduced to a stony bank, 0.2 to 0.7m high, except to N where the lane wall again curves outwards. There is a wide gap in the bank at SE'.
