Hut site in Adamstown (middlethird By., Kilmeadan Par.)

Situated towards the top of a S-facing slope. First identified in archaeological testing (02E0275) in advance of the N25 Waterford City by-pass (Russell (2006f), and fully excavated ((03E1217) as structure 2, which is part of Adamstown 3 (Russell 2006g). This is a circular area (diam. c. 8m) defined by a slot trench which produced a C14 date of cal BC 1490-1310, and at least six internal post-holes. The entrance (Wth c. 1m) defined by a total of four post-holes is at SE, but there was no hearth. Hut-site (WA017-123001-) is c. 5m to the SW and hut-site (WA017-123003-) is c. 12m to the NW.
