The terrier accompanying the Down Survey (1655-6) parish map of Killmodum lists ‘Walter Archer Fitz Jo[h]n Ir[ish] pa[pist]’ as the proprietor of ‘Parte of John Roothstown’ in 1640 and the properties listed included, ‘at John Roothstowne a Thatcht House’ (ibid.). The thatched house is not depicted on the Down Survey barony or parish map. The precise location of the house within the townland is unknown.
