House, 17th century

What is recorded here

The Down Survey (1655-6) map, ‘A Survey of the Liberties of Callan by George Marshall an exact copy by Dan[ie]l O Brein Surv[eyo]r’ (Hib. Reg., courtesy of Trinity College Dublin) depicts four houses (KK026-025001-; KK026-025002-; KK026-025003-; KK026-025004-) in 'Fookesrath', N of 'Kilbrid'. The 17th-century townland of 'Fookesrath' includes the modern townland of Foulksrath and appears to continued to the Kilbride River, encompassing the modern townland of Riversfield. Based on there position on the Down Survey map, it seems likely that these houses are in Riversfield townland. However, the precise location of these houses, in the S portion of Foulksrath and/or Riversfield, is unknown. See attached: KK026-025001-_01 extract from Down Survey (1655-6) map, ‘A Survey of the Liberties of Callan by George Marshall an exact copy by Dan[ie]l O Brein Surv[eyo]r’ (Hib. Reg., courtesy of Trinity College Dublin) Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 11 May 2022
