What is recorded here

A depiction of Burncourt fortified house (TS080-004001-) in Grose's Antiquities (1791, vol.2, 58) shows what appears to be a late 17th-century house in the foreground. Only the upper storey, of what was presumably a two-storey house with dormer attic, is visible. It has heavy gable-ended chimney stacks, consists of five-bays and has three dormer windows. The front façade is presumably W facing. Nothing of this house now survives, it has been replaced by farm buildings. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 06 January 2014
