Five thousand years ago, six stakes held a curved roof above ordinary life between Tombs 15, 16, and 17. Inside that small arc, people heated food, broke vessels and remembered the dead named in the neighbouring earth. The house did not seek greatness; it gave birth, work and loss a shape large enough to carry them.

This Neolithic House Site, No. 5, is part of Eogan's Phase 3 Decorated Pottery complex: Domestic activity - Zone F, which is located between Tombs 15, 16, and 17. This phase, now called Middle Neolithic, is associated with the building of the tombs and dated to c. 3500-2900 cal. BC (Eogan and Cleary 2017, 41). House site No. 5 consisted of an arc (diam. c. 6m) of 6 stake-holes in an area with 108 stake-holes. Including Neolithic House 4, the finds were few but there included sherds from at least 2 decorated vessels and 6 Carrowkeel ware vessels.
