This record refers to a timber house which is listed in the Strafford Inquisition (1635-37) of Co. Mayo as follows '..with the moiety of a garden plot and timber house in the town of Ballykuknawa…' (O'Sullivan, 1958, 107). The exact location of this house in Ballykinava townland, which straddles OS 6-inch sheets 101, 102, and 112, is unknown.
