What is recorded here

Thomastown still holds a fortified house, though its walls have surrendered much of their shape to time. The stones may have marked a boundary between neighbours or protected a family from seasonal danger. That much is certain even when the names and dates have faded. A house strong enough to resist invasion was also a house proud enough to be seen, and pride often builds thicker walls than fear alone.
