Houndwood is a post-medieval hunting lodge built around a medieval tower house in the Scottish Borders. The old tower may have watched for raiders or simply declared power, while the later lodge suggests people still valued the view, the solitude, or the thrill of the chase. Whatever lived inside, the stones remained tall enough to mark the land and tempt imagination.

The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Houndwood Hunting Lodge was built in the post-Medieval period as a royal hunting lodge, likely by a member of the Scottish nobility or royalty for recreational use. It is remembered as an example of the hunting lodges that were important in the tradition of royal and noble hunting in the Scottish landscape.
