HORIZONTAL MILL? (O.S. memoir site, unlocated) in Drumenagh

HORIZONTAL MILL? (O.S. memoir site, unlocated)

What is recorded here

Question marks and acronyms cannot hide the mill, because a horizontal mill is still a mill and Drumenagh is still a field where water, stone and human hunger met. The official name sounds like a filing cabinet swallowing a building, but the place may have been a loud, ordinary engine of local life. Perhaps it crushed grain, perhaps it crushed ore, and perhaps people forgot the difference because survival does not argue with results.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as HORIZONTAL MILL? (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
