Hordag

Headland

What is recorded here

Hordag is a sea cliff or coastal rock feature located in the Na h-Eileanan Siar archipelago, composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in the British Isles, dating back over 2.7 billion years. These highly metamorphosed rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through intense heat and pressure, and were later exposed by erosion, making Hordag notable for its ancient geological heritage.
