Holy well in Rogary, County Cavan, once belonged to St Mogue and still appears on every Ordnance Survey map, although concrete and a manhole cover have erased most of its shape. A horseshoe of loose stones remains beside the buried spring, perhaps set by people who came to pray or perhaps gathered only to keep the water steady. The well has stopped being a well in the way most people remember, yet it continues to occupy the landscape as a small stubborn absence, marked everywhere and visible almost nowhere.

Marked on all OS eds. It has been concreted over and a manhole cover placed on top. It was circular (diam c. 4m) and was lined with a drystone wall (local information). Linked to Saint Cianan, the well was traditionally associated with healing and was visited for cures related to skin ailments and general well-being. Local folklore suggests that the site was once a place of pilgrimage, with rituals involving the collection of water on specific feast days.
