What is recorded here

Water may have drunk and wept there before roads or churches touched the field. A holy well in Drumneen, County Mayo, still belongs to that old human hunger: to find clean water doing what prayer cannot explain. People may have washed fever, grief or fear from their skin before leaving coins, ribbons or silence behind. The well does not need a date to be true, because the body still recognises water that has been given away.
