What is recorded here

Ballynew in County Mayo holds a holy well, a ritual site where clean water rose through earth to serve human devotion. The exact shape of its chamber and the name of its patron have faded from ordinary memory, but the classification survives: a place set apart for prayer, healing or remembrance. People may have knelt at its edge, poured water over sick skin or dropped coins into the dark. The well remains a small cut in the landscape where the divine became tangible.
