Holy well in Ballynabrennagh Upper

Holy well

What is recorded here

Tubbernataggart, meaning the priest's well, still hides beneath Lismore House in Ballynabrennagh Upper. Tiny oratory ruins mark its eastern edge, but the water itself has vanished from human memory. A priest may have drawn life from that depth before stone and soil forgot the truth.
The precise location of the holy well has not been identified. Holy well described by Ms. Hickson (1880, 363 as 'Lismore House occupying part of its site; a little to the east of the house are the ruins of two or three tiny oratories or churches, and a well called Tubbernataggart, i.e. "the priest's well".
