Marianne stopped beside a narrow stone trough where rainwater gathered. She dipped her cup and drank, then walked the long road home with the taste of clean water still on her tongue. Years later the trough had vanished, but the shape of that journey remained sharp in her memory.

In the 1940s a holy well to which rounds were made was recorded at Ballingarry (ITA). It has not been precisely located despite local enquiries. A holy well dedicated to Saint Gobnait was traditionally associated with cures for eye ailments and infertility, with pilgrimages and rounds recorded in the Ballingarry area during the 1940s. Despite local efforts, its exact location remains unidentified.
