Hollybrook

Country house, built 1903.

A significant addition to the architectural heritage of the area, which retains much of its original fabric and character intact. Built in the first years of the twentieth century, it was designed by Scottish architect R.S. Balfour, in a style which was popularly executed in Britain, but rare in Ireland. The delightful gate lodges, built in the same style, add much to its context and settings, as do the fine ranges of earlier outbuildings to the north-west. Set within extensive historic gardens, it tells much of the wealth and status of the Morgan family at the turn of the century.
