HMS King Edward VII was a pre-dreadnought battleship of the Royal Navy, launched in 1897 and scrapped in 1916 after being decommissioned; its wreck in the Pentland Firth is likely the remains of this vessel, lost during its final years of service, though no lives or significant cargo were lost as it was being broken up at the time. The wreck is of historical interest as a remnant of early 20th-century naval technology.
