HMS Colossus

Protected wreck

What is recorded here

The National Heritage List for England records HMS Colossus as a protected wreck. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
HMS Colossus was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched in 1787 and lost in 1802 after a fire broke out while she was moored in Portsmouth Harbour. The fire killed 116 crew members and left the ship a total wreck; she was later sunk in the same harbour as a breakwater.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
