Headstone in Mountnugent is a roughly triangular sandstone fragment bearing the names Philip Reilly and Justine Nelly Reilly, who died in 1759 and 1751. It stands against the north bank of the road from Mountnugent to Aghanskeagh, about 170m from the village centre. The inscription asks for prayer for their souls, preserving a young couple’s lives in a small town long after they vanished.

Situated against the N bank of an E-W section of the road from Mountnugent to Aghanskeagh, and c. 170m from the centre of Mountnugent. It was brought to attention by Alan Mc Millan. The top part of a headstone is a roughly triangular sandstone (Wth 0.85m; H 0.75m; T 0.1m) and is inscribed in roman letters. It reads: IHS / PRAY FOR THE / SOUL OF / PHILIP REILLY / DHO DIED AUGUST / THE 30 / 1759 AGED 25 / AND JUSTINE NELLY REIL / LY WHO DIED THE 16 / OF JANUARY 1751 AGED 21.
