Harry Clarke

Memorial

What is recorded here

Harry Clarke, 1889-1931, was an Irish stained-glass artist who produced more than 130 windows before dying young. He and his brother Walter took over their father's studio in 1921, continuing work in rich blues and heavy black lines that made church walls and cafe windows glow like living things. His most seen designs still brighten Bewley's Cafe on Grafton Street, where ordinary coffee drinkers sit beneath glass that turns daylight into story.
