Harry Clarke

Harry Clarke was born in County Dublin in 1889, the same year the British Empire still believed it owned the sea and the soul of every island it could name. He died young in 1931, but not before filling churches, cafes and galleries with more than 130 windows of deep blue fire, sharp line and sacred mischief. His glass does not decorate; it remembers. When light enters a Clarke window, the room stops belonging to people and becomes a chamber where heaven, memory and desire collide.
