Ardvourlie Castle stands on Harris as a nineteenth-century hunting lodge, its garden terrace walls, slipway and bridge still marked beside the main building. The stone edges suggest a household that moved between land and water, perhaps launching boats from the terrace or walking hunters along the bridge at dawn. Whatever life filled the rooms, the castle preserved the shape of that local rhythm: a private residence built for sport, visibility and ease of movement across the surrounding landscape.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Harris, Ardvourlie Castle as Hunting Lodge (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
