This blue commemorative plaque records: His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I Emperor of Ethiopia often stayed here during his exile in Britain 1936-1941 when visiting his grand-daughters who, were educated at Clarendon School Recorded plaque organisation: Malvern Civic Society.
Haile Selassie was the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974, known for his role in African independence and his efforts against Italian occupation during WWII; he was a founding member of the Organization of African Unity.
