Guildhall in Unknown Townland

Guildhall

What is recorded here

Guildhall in Unknown Townland is a lost hall whose limestone walls still lie buried beneath Dublin. In 1996, diggers at Tailor's Hall found chambers built with heavy mortared stone beside medieval pottery, suggesting craftsmen gathered there long before the name faded. Perhaps they argued over prices, shared bread or whispered plans while rain struck the roof. The hall did not disappear so much as sink back into the town, waiting to be remembered through its fragments.
Excavations in 1996 at Tailor's Hall revealed a series of walls constructed of large mortared limestone. These were associated with local medieval pottery (Kehoe, H 1997, 27).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
