Green Castle is a promontory fort above Portknockie where an Iron Age palisade gave way to a Pictish defence, revealing charcoal, charred beams, furnace fragments and metalworking remains beneath later fish-drying platforms. The narrow seaward ridge still suggests a place made for watching, resisting and remembering, while erosion continues to take what the cliff can keep.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Green Castle as Coin (roman). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
