St Macra's Church on Great Bernera is associated with St Macra, a 6th-century Irish monk and one of the early Christian missionaries to the Western Isles of Scotland. Local tradition holds that he founded a monastery at the site, and the church is believed to have been built on or near the location of his original cell, though no specific cures or surviving folklore are widely recorded for this particular site.
