GRAVEYARD & THREE Man-made underground passages in Gracehill

GRAVEYARD & THREE Man-made underground passages

What is recorded here

Three man-made passages still cut through the Gracehill earth beside a graveyard, though no one now remembers who dug them or when. The holes may have served the living, the dead, or both at once, twisting breath and shadow through dark soil. Whatever they were, they are not natural. They are the shape of human hands forcing entry into the ground, and that much remains written in the stone.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as GRAVEYARD & THREE Man-made underground passages. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
