Graveyard in Kilnamanagh

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Kilnamanagh is a lost graveyard hidden beneath a garden at the Y-junction south of the church. The dead may still breathe under the living soil, waiting for someone brave enough to listen.
According to local tradition, there was a graveyard associated with the church (SL026-016----) at Kilnamanagh but its exact location is not known. One tradition places it in a triangular field, which is currently a garden, at the Y-junction to the S of the church site. (M. A. Timoney 2001a, 303) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
